"Chromatin"
is a stylized description of the organization of DNA molecule as a
chromosome in the nucleus of cells. It utilizes the cultural heritage
of the Ottoman arts and combines it with the genetic heritage of cells
symbolized by the DNA molecule. In Ottoman arts, the Whirlpool of
Golden Horn (Helezoni Tugrakesh) is a classical abstract motif that
first appeared on Iznik Chini tiles and pottery during the reign of
Suleiman the Magnificent (ca 1530-1600). Today, it is possible to
see artifacts ornamented with the Whirlpool of Golden Horn in prominent
museums of the world, such as the Topkapi Palace, British Museum,
Metropolitan Museum of Art, Victoria & Albert Museum, Kuwait National
Museum, Cincinnati Art Museum, Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, Staatliche
Museen Preussischer Kulturbesitz, Musée de la Renaissance,
Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs. The products carrying this

Tell us the secrets of immortality
And better be bitter memory.
Tayfun Ozcelik, 2005
"Fugitives of destiny" is a stylized description of the cellular events
that lead to immortality. It depicts the accumulation of mutations
in cells. In medical terminology, this is called "clonal evolution".
It pays homage to the international research effort "cancer genome
anatomy project". This motif is inspired by a classical abstract
motif that appeared on a Iznik chini plate from ca. 1560, currently
at Musée de la Renaissance. The products carrying this design
are hand-made with authentic pure silk, silk and linen and linen fabrics

This motif symbolically represents transcription of the putative gene
"LIFE" (Life Initiation Factor Eternity), which hypothetically
is the first expressed sequence from a fertilized egg hence triggering
embryonic genome activation. In this motif, the S shape adorned with
tulips is a classical Ottoman arts motif from the 16th Century and
decorates several mosques in Istanbul. The products carrying this
design are hand-made with authentic pure silk, silk and linen, linen
and goat hair fabrics specially produced in Bursa, Odemis, Kastamonu

In "Naked DNA", a physiological phenomenon is stylized.
This is the DNA molecule that is freely floating outside of a cell
in the blood stream. It was inspired by the classical Ottoman motif
"Chintamani" which was a power symbol. In "Naked DNA",
the Chintamani motif becomes blood cells. In conclusion, this motif
utilizes the cultural heritage of the Ottoman arts and combines it
with the genetic heritage of cells symbolized by the DNA molecule.
The products carrying this design are hand-made with authentic pure
